Untitled (Art on love)

In the course of an artist’s and image maker's career, the paths of love and creation often cross. The erotic and the Promethean. Untitled (Art on Love) incarnates the transitional powers of love and its impact on creativity and matters of the heart all the same. Untitled (Art on Love), emerges from a residency at the lithography studio of artist Olivier van Uffelen, A52.8.

On the one hand, the new chapter intricately weaves together photographic and archival materials, while focussing on the other hand on the complex interplay of love as both a driving force and an obstacle. At the heart of this new piece is the figure of Eros, the god of love, serving as a pivotal concept in both the realm of romantic love and the process of artistic creation. This image relies on layered compositional techniques and carefully chosen materials. Images and texts take on a confrontation. The viewer on the other hand is challenged to ‘read’ and undergo the image.

Untitled (Art on Love) not only delves into the conceptual and technical aspects of image making but also addresses the artist’s personal journey. It represents an endeavour to navigate and transcend the roles and expectations imposed on oneself as a human being, a woman, and an image maker. This introspective element is seamlessly presented in dialogue with the inherently slow-paced rhythm of lithography.

Viewers are invited to contemplate the intimate relationship between love and art, and even the ins and outs of love and the transformative powers of love in the end. The interplay between images, text, inspiration, creation, beauty, and love is articulated in this work.
